A Pensacola, Fla., man denied ever telling people he was a police officer while at Mix Ultra Lounge early Saturday, reports state.
He just flashed his wallet as if he had a badge and asked about drugs at the downtown club, Columbus police said.
Cesar Gomez, 37, faces a charge of impersonating an officer. According to reports, a bouncer for Mix, 1107 Broadway, told police officers that the suspect told him he was an officer. The suspect then quickly pulled his wallet out, flipped it open and closed it, as if he was showing a badge.
The suspect then started asking Mix employees about drug sales inside the club, pretending to talk into a microphone on his jacket collar, police said. “Gomez stated that ‘everybody thought’ he was a police officer,” reports state. “He denied making any statements that he was a police officer.”
Officers then arrested Gomez and took him to the Muscogee County Jail, reports state.
