A probationer was found with $200 worth of drugs inside the Muscogee County Jail after a search on Wednesday, police said.
Ben. L. Williams, 55, faces charges of crossing the guard lines with drugs and Violation of the Georgia Controlled Substance Act, reports state.
According to police, Williams was one of five people at the Columbus Probation Office Wednesday afternoon who had outstanding probation violation warrants. An officer learned that the suspect might have drugs on him, and that’s when he saw the suspect ask to use the bathroom.
The officer intervened, took the suspect to an office and asked if he had any drugs on him. The suspect denied having any, police said.
The officer then took the suspect to the jail and asked him again about having drugs. The officer and a probation officer then took the suspect to a cell, where a complete search of him was done, reports state.
Two grams of suspected crack cocaine worth $200 was found, police report.
