A Taylor County commissioner has been arrested and charged with molesting multiple victims under the age of 16, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation confirmed today.
Commissioner Jerry Albritton was arrested without incident Wednesday evening and charged with three counts of child molestation, Special Agent Rodney Wall said.
Wall said the victims were “known to the offender,” but he declined to elaborate.
“The charges speak for themselves,” Wall said.
The GBI began investigating the allegations in June at the behest of the Taylor County authorities, Wall said.
According to the Board of Commisioner’s website, Albritton has been on the board since 2001 and previously served as vice chairman.
Albritton was released on bond, jail officials said.
