Calhoun quarterback Landon Curtis was nearly perfect passing with two touchdowns and another rushing as the Yellow Jackets ended Carver’s season with a 27-14 victory on Friday in the GHSA Class AA semifinals.
Calhoun (14-0) advances to the state championship to play Buford, which defeated Lovett 53-13 on Friday. Carver finishes the season 13-1.
Carver’s offense struggled to move the ball against Buford, particularly in the first half. Running back Isaiah Crowell had 90 yards of the team’s 113 rushing yards and a touchdown on 20 carries.
Calhoun kicker Adam Griffith hit two field goals, each from 25-yards out, Curtis was 18-for-22 for 178 yards and two touchdowns passing and also ran in a score.
Carver’s Dequindre Adams caught a Kris Carson pass for a 14-yard, fourth quarter touchdown, and Carson hit Marqui Hawkins for th two-point conversion pass to make it 27-14.
