A man accused of shooting his wife because she stayed out all night has been arrested, authorities said.
Kerry Lamar Coppins, 34, is charged with aggravated assault in connection with the early Saturday shooting of his 32-year-old wife. Officers arrested him at 10:45 p.m. Saturday at the Muscogee County Jail, reports state.
The shooting happened about 6 a.m. in front of Coppins’ house, 930 53rd St., police said. The victim was shot once in the right upper torso, though police said the wound is not considered to be life threatening.
Police said the woman returned home that morning and Coppins became upset because she’d been out all night. Both may have been drinking, reports state.
The woman drove herself to the hospital. Her mother said Saturday she’s expected to fully recover.
