The Ledger-Enquirer live blogged the Amazing Race Season 17 Episode 12 on Sunday, Dec. 12, 2010. A recap follows:
Nat and Kat made history and became the first female team to take first place and win the Amazing Race.
Brook and Claire were second place. Jill and Thomas were third place.
Jill and Thomas got their clue first and learn that they will fly to Los Angeles and make their way to the Port of Long Beach, where they will get their next clue.
All three teams reach Incheon International Airport with plenty of time to spare and are on the same plane. Once they land, the teams run to a line of awaiting cabs.
Nat and Kat make it to the pier first and learn that they would take a small elevator to the top of a crane and get their clue. They would then bungee down to the water below and climb up to dry land, where they could open their clue.
A helicopter then takes the teams to the next location: The Rose Bowl. At the stadium, the teams must decorate a parade float to the satisfaction of a floral arranger. When done, they get their next clue from the 2009 Rose Queen.
Again, Nat and Kat are in first. Their clue consists of three hints that, once deciphered, will lead them to their next destination.
"Who is Sancho Panza's master?" "How many years is Marilyn Monroe's itch?"
By using a phone, Nat and Kat quickly discover that they are to go to Quixote Studios, Stage 7, where they must identify the native people who greeted them along with Phil at each leg's Pit Stop. Images of the greeters, and various others, appear on a set of TV screens. The teams must use a touch screen to choose the correct greeters and put them in the correct order.
Brook and Claire discover the location of the next clue by visiting a hotel and using its Internet connection. Jill and Thomas, however, get a cabbie who doesn't speak English very well and they end up leaving the cab in search of any place they can use the Internet.
Nat and Kat quickly pick the greeters out and get their final clue: Go to the finish line at Greystone Mansion.
Brook and Claire aren't far behind, and both teams struggle with LA traffic. Nat and Kat, however, arrive in first place and are the first female team to win the Amazing Race.
Brook and Claire are second place.
Jill and Thomas are third place.
