A 13-year-old Opelika, Ala., boy faces a criminal charge after he allegedly fired a BB gun at a moving school bus on Monday, damaging a window and leading to a girl getting cut by broken glass, Lee County authorities said.
The Sanford Middle School bus with 20 students on it was on Lee Road 445 in Opelika around 3:20 p.m. CST when the students heard a sound come from one of the windows. A window was damaged, and an 11-year-old girl had cuts on her face and a hand from broken glass, Lee County Sheriff’s Capt. Van Jackson said.
The girl required no medical treatment and no one else was hurt, Jackson added.
Authorities began an investigation which led them to the 13-year-old boy, whose name wasn’t released. The boy has been charged with discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle, Jackson said.

He’s being held at the Lee County Youth Development Center, and his case will proceed through Lee County Juvenile Court, the captain added.
