Journalist Earl Caldwell, the only reporter to witness the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr., will speak tonight at Auburn University. The lecture is free to the public.
Caldwell will speak at 6 p.m. CST at The Hotel at Auburn University and Dixon Conference Center.
Caldwell, who worked at both the New York Times and New York Daily News, covered the race riots of 1967 and 1968. He also reported on the riots at the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago.
Caldwell also covered the Atlanta child murders and trial of Wayne Williams. He was with Jesse Jackson during his bid for the presidency.
