W.C. Bradley Co. said today its Zebco Brands company has acquired Zebco Sports Europe, reuniting the two lines of business that were split in a sale 10 years ago.
The deal between Tulsa, Okla.-based Zebco Brands and Tostedt, Germany-based Zebco Sports Europe was finalized Monday. Terms of the purchase were not disclosed.
W.C. Bradley Co., headquartered in downtown Columbus, is a privately owned holding company for several businesses. They include grill manufacturer Char-Broil, outdoor torches and citronella fuel maker Lamplight, and W.C. Bradley Co. Real Estate. It also owns the PGA Tour Stop retail store near St. Augustine, Fla.
The new acquisition will match Zebco Brands, which does business in the Americas and Asia, with Zebco Sports Europe, which includes the Middle East and African markets.
Peter Delwes, who has owned Zebco in Europe since 2002, will remain managing director of the operation, reporting to Jeff Pontius, president of Zebco Brands. W.C. Bradley Co. bought the U.S. retailer of fish and tackle equipment in 2001.
“Peter Delwes has done a nice job of turning Zebco Sports Europe into a consistently profitable business, but as an independent owner he has been constrained by tight capital markets,” Pontius said in a statement. “With the financial strength of our parent, the W.C. Bradley Co., we can make the investments in staffing, advertising, product development and territory expansion necessary to drive growth.”
