A man Columbus police say was operating a back-room gambling operation in a Buena Vista Road shopping center has been indicted.
Ronnie Lockhart, 61, was indicted by a Muscogee County grand jury on Tuesday.
According to police, Lockhart was arrested July 25 after officers went to Vista Park Center, 1105 Buena Vista Road, to check on a burglary alarm.
As officers checked the businesses at the shopping center, they went through white double doors and stumbled upon 11 machines with around $2,000 inside them, police said.
Never miss a local story.
The machines were seized. While the money inside them can be seized through the courts, the machines themselves must be destroyed, Capt. Gil Slouchick said.
Lockhart made his $3,195 bonds a day after his arrest.
