The Alabama Department of Transportation reports that some ice has started to accumulate on Interstate 85 bridges in Lee and Chambers counties. Crews have begun spreading sand on the bridges and overpasses.
In Columbus, the high today is expected to reach the mid-40s with a 60 percent chance of rain.
After an overnight low in the high 30s, the high Friday will again be in the mid-40s but with a 90 percent chance of rain.
The skies are supposed to clear over the weekend with a high Saturday of near 50 degrees and Sunday in the mid-50s.
