Col. Ted Martin, the commander of the U.S. Armor School at Fort Benning, will be promoted to brigadier general in a ceremony Friday at the Benning Conference Center.
Martin will be able to pin on the star during the 11:30 a.m. frocking ceremony before his official promotion. Although he is selected for promotion, Martin must wait for a vacancy to open because only a certain number of people may serve in the position.
Benning gets more brass on post as result of the Base Realignment and Closure. Martin is leading the effort to move the Armor School from Fort Knox, Ky., to Fort Benning, creating the Maneuver Center of Excellence.
He joins Brig. Gen. Bryan Owens, commander of the Infantry School, and Maj. Gen. Robert Brown, commander of the Maneuver Center of Excellence.
