The AHSAA Class 5A Area 4 girls basketball championship game between Valley and tournament host Russell County on Saturday has been moved ahead two hours to begin at 6 p.m., according to Russell County athletic director Tripp Henderson.
Valley reached the area championship by defeating B.T. Washington 44-43 in Thursday's first game at Russell County on Thursday, and Russell County reached the title game by defeating Tallassee 87-13 later that night.
The Central-Phenix City girls are scheduled to host Opelika at 7 p.m. Saturday in the Class 6A Area 7 title game. Central defeated Smiths Station 79-32 on Thursday, and Opelika defeated Auburn 56-48.
The boys area tournaments begin tonight. In the Class 6A Area 7 tournament, Opelika hosts Central at 6 p.m., and Auburn plays Smiths Station at Opelika at 8 p.m. The final will be played at 8 p.m. Monday at Opelika.
In the boys Class 5A Area 4 tournament, Russell County plays Valley at 7 p.m. at B.T. Washington in Tuskegee, Ala., and B.T. Washington hosts Tallassee at 8:30 p.m. The final will be played at 8 p.m. Monday at B.T. Washington.
