A high-speed chase from Phenix City into Columbus Tuesday afternoon resulted in no injuries and no property damage, Columbus police said.
Amanda Corley was driving east on U.S. 80 around 12:15 p.m. when she spotted the suspect’s vehicle.
“I was doing the speed limit and then all of a sudden a black Dodge went past me like I was standing still,” she said.
Moments later, she saw two Russell County Sheriff’s cars drive past with their emergency lights on.
According to Columbus Police Sgt. Art Sheldon, a car was stolen in Columbus and used in a Phenix City burglary. A detective spotted the vehicle in Phenix City on Tuesday and tried to stop it, which led to the chase.
The chase ended near 21st Avenue and North Andrews Circle, Sheldon said.
