A man busted for loud music at Peachtree Mall on Saturday was found to be in the country illegally, Columbus police said.
An officer heard the suspect, identified in records as 32-year-old Roberto Santis, before he saw him around 4:45 p.m. He asked the suspect to leave the mall, though he kept driving around and playing his music loudly, reports state.
The suspect told the officer that the 2002 Chevrolet Suburban he was driving wasn’t his, though a records check revealed it was in the suspect’s name. The suspect then said he was waiting for his girlfriend, who was inside the mall, and that’s why he kept driving around, police said.
Reports state that the officer spoke with the girlfriend and discovered that she was on Victory Drive.
Police said that the suspect has never had a driver’s license and is in the country illegally.
Santis faces two counts of false information and one count each of loud music, no proof of insurance and no state driver’s license.
Santis remained in the Muscogee County Jail Sunday on $1,735.50 in bonds.
