Police say that a man in court for unrelated charges was arrested Monday morning on accusations of carjacking and aggravated assault.
O’markeon Markece Kelley, 21, is accused in connection with the Jan. 19 carjacking outside of Rainbow Foods, 4105 Buena Vista Road, said Lt. John McMichael.
A 20-year-old woman was shopping with her three cousins — ages 16, 14 and 15 — around 8:20 p.m. They were putting their groceries in her 1994 Honda Civic when the suspect approached, the lieutenant said.
“He asked for a cigarette,” he added. “No one provided him with a cigarette.”

That’s when the suspect pulled a handgun, took the keys to the 20-year-old’s car and drove away, McMichael said.
A police investigation led officers to peg Kelley as a suspect, McMichael said. Kelley was outside of Columbus Recorder’s Court at 9:30 a.m. Monday was he was arrested on outstanding warrants on four counts of aggravated assault and one count each of hijacking a motor vehicle and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, reports state.
