A Columbus man was arrested Tuesday on accusations he fired a shot outside a Torch Hill Road home.
Officers arrested Diandre Dowell, 18, around 11:45 a.m. outside near Torch Hill and Fort Benning roads, reports state.
According to police, officers responded to Torch Hill Road and Ticknor Drive about shots being fired. When they arrived, they spotted a man and woman walking west toward Fort Benning Road matching the suspects’ description.
An officer spotted the man, identified by police as Dowell, quickly walk behind a strip mall at the corner of Torch Hill and Fort Benning roads. The suspect was stopped and the area searched, revealing a weapon under an air-conditioning unit hidden by rocks, reports state.

Police said that the weapon was stolen, and that the suspect has a 2008 burglary conviction on his record.
A witness told police that he heard a shot fired, turned around and saw the suspect with a silver .357 Ruger Magnum revolver walking away with a woman.
Dowell is charged with reckless conduct, theft by receiving stolen property and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
