The Columbus Airport is officially opening its new Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) Station.
The new 9,250-square-foot building is outfitted to manage hazardous wasted disposal, medical decontamination, terrorism and of course fires that may result because of a plane crash.
The facility replaces a nearly 50-year-old building and is now located much closer to the runway. The new location also allows for easier access in the case that the Columbus Fire Department were needed for help. Equally, the ARFF team will lend a hand to the Columbus Fire Department should they require assistance.
The Rescue Station invites the public to attend an open house from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Saturday, March 12th.
