If he gets up, we'll all get up
After watching a movie for the first time since the first Bush administration, I realize that I need more cinematography in my life. So do you, basement dweller. Listen up and you just might learn something:
Got shadowy conspiracy?: "The Adjustment Bureau" is a new movie based off the writings of sci-fi legend Philip K. Dick, a known drug fiend whose books have inspired movie makers for years. Go see it at the newly improved Carmike, 1683 Whittlesey Road. Get show times here.
Never miss a local story.
Mindblender: It's been a while since we've graced the halls of Spicoli's, 5762 Milgen Road. Head over there with $5 in hand around 9 p.m. Saturday to see this keen cover band. It'll be anarchy.
Columbus Cottonmouths: Alternatively, you could see some guys with real tiger blood at the Columbus Civic Center at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. Our beloved Cottonmouths take on the despised Pensacola Iceflyers. Bring about $20 for tickets and drinks.
Fortunately, the Springer Opera House is still presenting "High School Musical." Unfortunately, you still have to bring your own Zac Efron. Sigh. Such is life. Try these weekend picks:
RiverBlast at Port Columbus: The living history event is 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, at Port Columbus, 1002 Victory Drive. Guests can expect to see weapons demonstrations, cannon firings, museum tours, mock skirmishes and scenes from a sailor’s daily life during the first year of the Civil War. Cost is $6.50 for adults, $5.50 for seniors and active military, $5 for students. Call 706-327-9798.
"High School Musical" at the Springer: This high school love story will be performed 7:30 Saturday and March 17-19 and 2:30 p.m. March 13 at Springer Opera House, 103 10th St. Tickets cost $10-$38. Call 706-327-3688.
Bridal expo at the RiverMill Event Centre: This event offers vendors, a fashion show and more. It's 1-5 p.m. Sunday at RiverMill Event Centre, 3715 First Ave. Cost is $3 for brides, $5 for each guest. Call 706-327-9300.
