Karen Rodriguez was eliminated on Thursday's episode of "American Idol." Haley Reinhart and Naima Adedapo joined her in the bottom three.
Karen sang Mariah Carey's "Hero" while attempting to earn the judges' save. Judge Randy Jackson told her they chose not to use the save. The decision was not unanimous, he said.
It was Karen's second consecutive trip to the bottom three.
She emphasized her cultural heritage throughout the competition, often singing in both Spanish and English.
Unfortunately, Karen opted for stale ballads on the "Idol" stage. She seemed like a potential pageant contestant, rather than a viable recording artist.
I'm now two for two in predicting this season's eliminations. Booyah!
Also on Thursday's show, the "Idol" finalists sang a mashup of "Born To Be Wild" and "Born This Way."
Lee DeWyze sang his new single, "Beautiful Like You." It wasn't exactly the best lesson in how to be a marketable "Idol" winner. Sad but true. The Black Eyed Peas performed "Just Can't Get Enough."
Eleven singers remain in the competition.
