Sheriff's officials say they've captured a work release inmate who escaped last week from the Macon Transitional Center and made his way to Troup County.
Lenton Jerome Snow Jr. had been at large since last Friday, authorities said. Snow has family in Troup County and was thought to be staying with them.
"Troup County Sheriff's Office investigators and deputies have been actively searching and following leads that eventually climaxed in a lengthy foot chase on Thursday afternoon through a wooded area along Whitesville and Murphy roads," Sgt. Chad Mann said in a news release.
Mann said Snow was captured Thursday afternoon along the power lines not far from the Troup County Sheriff's Office. A Department of Corrections fugitive task force assisted in the search.

Snow is serving time for an aggravated assault conviction in Troup County. He had been tentatively slated for parole in November, according to the Department of Corrections.
