A Columbus man faces charges after police say he ran from an officer Monday afternoon.
Edward Horne, 40, is charged with loitering, obstruction and criminal trespass, reports state.
According to police, off duty officer Allen Hickman spotted the suspect step from behind a Bonnie Drive home around noon. The suspect appeared to be examining the home for a future theft, and Hickman called dispatch asking for on duty officers to respond.
Hickman then approached the suspect, identified himself as police and asked whether the suspect lived at the home and had any ID. The suspect said he didn’t live there and had no identification, police said.

After telling the suspect that on duty officers would arrive, the suspect ran from the area and jumped a creek behind a Bonnie Drive home.
Hickman later found the suspect behind a River Rock Way home, where he was arrested and taken to the Muscogee County Jail, reports state.
