A Baker Middle School student was accused on Tuesday of inappropriately touching a teacher, Columbus police said.
The 14-year-old male student first touched the 36-year-old female teacher around the waist at the door of her classroom on March 17. She told an administrator about it, and an investigation by the school began that day, said Valerie Fuller, communications director with the school district.
The student again touched the teacher around the waist in the cafeteria at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, Fuller and police said.
“The student was asked not to touch the teacher both times,” Fuller added.
Assistant Principal Michael Davis approached a police officer at the school Tuesday morning about the student, reports state.
Police said the student was charged with sexual battery — a misdemeanor.
Fuller said she couldn’t disclose confidential student discipline issues.
