A LaGrange woman has been arrested on charges she assumed her mother's identity and fraudulently obtained several credit cards.
Donna Jo Davis, 49, allegedly accrued about $18,000 in debt on the credit cards. She's accused of opening multiple lines of credit to pay off some of the debt.
Troup County sheriff's officials said they began an investigation into the matter in 2009. Sgt. Chad Mann said banks had threatened Davis' mother with legal action.
Davis was charged with one count of theft by deception. She posted $35,800 bond and was released from the Troup County Jail.
