A Columbus man died early Thursday in a single-vehicle wreck after it flipped while on Interstate 185.
George Linton, 35, was pronounced dead at 3:09 a.m. at the hospital, said Coroner Bill Thrower.
According to Columbus Police Lt. Mark D. Starling, Linton and a passenger were driving south on the interstate around midnight when Linton took the St. Marys Road exit.
Linton’s 2005 GMC Yukon veered to the right and touched a plastic construction barrel on the shoulder of the road. Linton then over-corrected, and the Yukon left the road, the lieutenant said.

“It got sideways in the grass and it began to flip,” Starling added.
Linton was ejected through the sun roof, though his passenger only received minor injuries. He’s expected to be treated and released from the hospital, Starling said.
Thrower said Linton died from multiple blunt force trauma to the head and chest.
