Columbus police cited a man for having an open bottle of Bud while driving on 38th Street Tuesday night, reports state.
Christopher Greenhaw, 39, faces charges of open container, giving a false name and driving while license suspended, police said.
According to reports, an officer spotted Greenhaw driving west on 38th Street without operating tag lights on his 1991 GMC 1500 Pickup. The officer stopped the vehicle at 10:30 p.m., and the driver told the officer his name was Christopher McDaniel.
That name didn’t appear in police records, and the driver then said his name was Christopher Greenhaw. The officer took him into custody, and the man allowed the officer to search his pickup, reports state.

The officer found an open 12-ounce bottle of Budweiser between the driver’s seat and center console that was cool to the touch. The officer also learned that the suspect had a suspended license after he used his real name to check police records, police said.
