Columbus police say a man driving a 2005 Mitsubishi Galant on the Riverwalk Monday morning was smoking marijuana.
Marshall Davis, 30, of Columbus, faces charges of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, no state driver’s license and possession of marijuana, reports state.
According to police, an officer spotted the car driving on the Riverwalk near 18th Street around 9:45 a.m. The officer stopped the vehicle and asked the driver, identified in reports as Davis, for his license. The man couldn’t provide his license, and the officer noticed the strong smell of marijuana coming from the car.
The officer had Davis get out of the car, and he asked about the marijuana smell. Davis allegedly told the officer that he’d just smoked some marijuana and had more in his pocket. The officer found suspected marijuana in Davis’ front pocket and a partially smoked marijuana cigarette, worth a total of $26, police said.
Davis was then arrested, reports state.
