Police charged a Columbus woman with aggravated assault after she allegedly fired two shots into her husband’s truck Wednesday afternoon, reports state.
Rebecca McGinn-Smith, 22, faces charges of aggravated assault, reckless conduct, discharging a firearm and carrying a concealed weapon, police said.
According to reports, officers responded to Greystone at Windsor Village, 3700 Bridgewater Road, after learning about the accusations from the 25-year-old husband. They met with McGinn-Smith, who was outside of the apartment building around 3:50 p.m.
Police said McGinn-Smith had a .40-caliber pistol in her purse. Officers spotted a round that had been shot into the right tire of a Ford F150 and another into the right front rim of the truck. Two spent shell casings were found about 10 feet away.
Reports state that McGinn-Smith told officers she fired the shots at the tires and not at her husband. A reason for the shooting isn’t listed on reports.
