A man police say tried to run over a woman with a truck over the weekend was arrested moments later and found with drugs.
Jonathan Ray Rogers, 31, of Phenix City is charged with reckless conduct, possession of marijuana and obstruction, reports state.
According to police, officers responded to a domestic dispute at a Searcy Street home about 3 p.m. Saturday. When they arrived, a 52-year-old woman told police Rogers had tried to run over her with a truck.
Rogers then returned to the home and hid in some woods behind the house. Rogers ran from police when an officer spotted him, though he surrendered after running a few blocks, police said.
Never miss a local story.
Officers searched Rogers, reports state, and discovered he had two baggies of suspected marijuana weighing 3 1/2 grams.
Police say officers also spoke about Rogers with a neighbor, who gave a different account of the truck incident. According to the neighbor, Rogers wasn’t trying to hit the woman. Instead, Rogers didn’t stop the truck when the woman tried to close a gate in front of him.
