A man arrested early Sunday on drug charges threw punches at officers in an attempt to escape, reports state.
Curtis Morten, 20, is charged with possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, obstruction of an officer and giving false information, police said.
According to reports, Morten ran a stop sign about 1:40 a.m. at Thomas Street and Rigdon Road. Officers stopped Morten at Ninth Street and Booker Avenue. They then learned that Morten’s driver’s license was suspended, which led them to arrest him.
Morten, however, started throwing punches at the officers. Police then used a stun gun on Morten, and he was taken into custody, police said.

Officers then searched Morten’s car and found 18 bags of suspected marijuana worth a total of $160. They also found three bags of suspected crack cocaine and one bag with suspected powder cocaine, totalling $160, reports state.
