7:01 p.m.: Jef Holbrook, the Springer Opera House's director of Springer University, told me as I was blogging that I should live in the moment and quit writing.
As the more than 500 Springer supporters filed into the Emily Woodruff Hall, the Justice Family Bluegrass Band played traditional bluegrass tunes as well as original songs written by band members.
Cameron Bean, the Springer's director of development, said how much he appreciated everyone being here.
He introduced producing artistic director Paul Pierce and associate director and director of the Springer Theater Academy Ron Anderson.
Never miss a local story.
Pierce said it was his 25th time doing the season announcement.
He also said two former supporters died this year. PJ Kennedy, the managing director, who died in Denver. The other was long-time supporter Sam Rawls.
