An adoptive mother accused of murder in the death of her infant child was given a $125,000 bond on Friday.
Jennifer Long, 35, is charged in connection with the death of 20-month-old Alexis Long, who died earlier this month. Her husband, 46-year-old Timothy Long, is charged with second-degree cruelty to children.
Incarcerated since her arrest, Long was granted her bond Friday after a hearing before Superior Court Judge Tracy Moulton Jr., court officials said.Timothy Long made his $5,000 bond shortly after his arrest.
Police say the couple had returned to their 1807 43rd St. Columbus home on Jan. 29 from a trip when Alexis had a temper-tantrum. According to a statement from the husband, the child’s mother threw Alexis on the changing table where she stopped crying and became unresponsive. The child died two days later at an Atlanta hospital.
