A Columbus man faces charges after police say he hit and choked a woman over the weekend.
Darryl Mathis, 39, is charged with aggravated assault, false imprisonment and aggravated stalking, reports state.
According to police, Mathis hit his 31-year-old girlfriend in her face at their Derby Court home between 11 p.m. Friday and 1 a.m. Saturday. Mathis also choked the woman, who later said she had trouble breathing and feared for her life.
The woman tried to leave the home several times, but Mathis grabbed her and kept her inside, reports state.
The woman was later taken to The Medical Center, where she was listed in fair condition, police said.
