Former Russell County Commissioner Dolly Wilson, long a colorful, dynamic political figure who represented a Phenix City commission district, died this morning after a long illness, her family said. She was 86.
Often using the campaign slogan "Vote Dolly, By Golly," Wilson was known not just for her dedicated service to the county but also for her lively antics. Once she enthusiastically pushed an issue before the commission, made a motion for action and got a second, and then, after commissioners discussed the matter, she changed her mind and voted against her own motion.
Funeral arrangements will be handled by Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City.
