Phenix City police have a charged a woman with second-degree arson in connection with a fire that destroyed a mobile home in Ladonia Saturday afternoon.
A former tenant of the mobile home, Paula Kay Shehane, 51 of Phenix City, was stopped on Magnolia Court leaving the scene of the blaze. She was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol in addition to arson.
Lt. George Staudinger of the Phenix City Police Department said Shehane used a cigarette lighter to ignite some debris. No one was living in the trailer at the time, he said.
"I think the alcohol probably played a part, and maybe there were some hard feelings about not living there any more," Staudinger said. "I think she was just upset about it."

The blaze began about 3 p.m. The single-wide trailer "basically burned to the ground," he added.
Shehane is being held at the Russell County Jail on $10,750 bond.
