A Columbus police officer was injured Monday after being dragged by a car during a traffic stop, police said.
The officer stopped the car at Warren Williams apartments at around 12:45 p.m and the driver jumped out and fled, police said. When the vehicle began to roll back toward a bystander, the officer opened the driver’s side door to stop it. Police said he lost his footing and was dragged by the car.
The officer sustained a fractured ankle and scratches and abrasions to his left knee and right hand. He was transported to The Medical Center for treatment.
The driver of the vehicle has not been charged at this time, police said.
