Phil Scoggins, main news anchor for WRBL News 3, has signed a new multi-year contract with the station, according to a news release.
Scoggins, who has spent more than 25 years in broadcasting, anchors News 3's weekly 6 and 11pm newscasts, News 3 Evening Edition and News 3 Nightwatch.
He has also anchored sports for WRBL and is behind News 3's "Remember When" special reports, which features recollections of local events, landmarks and famous people from years past.
"Phil has helped lead our news team for more than a decade," WRBL's news director, Steve Korioth said in the release. "We're proud to have the opportunity to cement a deal that will keep Phil with News 3 for years to come."
Scoggins is a 1974 cum laude graduate of the University of Georgia, who launched his commercial broadcasting career in radio while still at school. He's served as sport director for WRBL and later as marketing manager for Callaway Gardens. In 1988, he opened his own corporate video production company.
Scoggins and his wife, Judy, have three children and seven grandchildren.
