Columbus police have arrested Cortez Dyes, 19, and charged him with aggravated assault in the early Sunday morning stabbing of 37-year-old Andre Bernard.
The incident happened on Lakefront Drive.
According to police the incident occurred around 12:30 a.m.
Police say that Dyes and Bernard were in an altercation and Bernard was stabbed several times.
After the fight was broken up, Bernard was transported to St. Francis Hospital by his wife.
Sunday, he was listed in serious condition. It is not known if the injuries are life threatening.
After talking with witnesses, investigators decided to arrest Dyes.
Police Lt. Lynn Joiner said the altercation was because of an earlier altercation between Dyes and Bernard's 16-year-old daughter.
Besides aggravated assault, Dyes is charged with possession of a knife during the commission of a crime and battery.
The battery charge involves Bernard's daughter.
Dyes will appear in Columbus Recorder's Court on Tuesday at 2 p.m.
