A man was arrested for possession of marijuana Monday after he admitted to police that he had a marijuana "blunt" with him and was found with a bag of marijuana, according to a Columbus Police Department report.
Officers stopped Darrel Hicks, 26, near the intersection of Eighth Street and Rigdon Road at about 12:15 p.m. after discovering that his registration was suspended. When an officer approached the car, he smelled burning marijuana.
Hicks allegedly told the officer he "wasn't going to lie" and said there was a marijuana blunt in his front pocket. After police found a bag of marijuana in his front pocket during a search, Hicks told the officers that when he said "blunt," he meant he had a bag of drugs.
Police estimated the bag contained 2.2 grams of marijuana, valued at $22.
Hicks was arrested and charged with marijuana possession. He was taken to Muscogee County Jail.
