Columbus police have arrested 27-year-old Joey Garron and charged him with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
According to a police report, the arrest was made at 1:10 p.m. Wednesday on Mellon Street.
Garron was driving a 1994 Mercury Grand Marquis when police stopped him for a random tag check.
Police say that when asked for a driver's license, Garron replied he did not have one and that when Garron was asked for consent to search the vehicle he gave it.
It was reported that Garron stepped out of the vehicle and when asked if he had anything illegal on him, Garron told the officer he had five sacks of marijuana in his left pants pocket. The officer found a plastic bag containing five individually wrapped bags of suspected marijuana.
The total weight was 7.8 grams with a street value of $78.
The report says Garron told the officer he had purchased the marijuana and put it all in one bag so he would not lose it.
Besides the marijuana charge, he was charged with no stat driver's license and no insurance.
He was taken to the Muscogee County Jail.
