A woman who attempted to steal beer from the Publix on Macon Road Wednesday faced charges of possession of Schedule III and Schedule IV drugs during a Recorder's Court hearing Thursday.
Toni Hodge, 49, was stopped in the Publix on Macon Road at about 11 a.m. Officer Charles Daugherty told the court that Hodge was stopped after loss prevention personnel noticed her attempting to leave the store with several cases of Budweiser beer.
While searching Hodge, police found 6 pills of Diazepam, a muscle relaxant and anti-anxiety; one Furosemide, a diuretic; three Promethazine, an anti-nausea and anti-allergen and two Hydrocodone inside a single container.
Hodge was charged with possession Schedule IV and Schedule III drugs. She was taken to Muscogee County Jail.
During the 9 a.m. hearing, Judge Michael Cielinski dropped a charge of shoplifting originally levied against Hodge because of an undisclosed error in how the evidence was submitted.
Cielinski set Hodge's bond at $6,000.
