A Muscogee County Jail inmate walked away Sunday evening, according to officials.
Maj. Randy Robertson said Joshua Michael Hall, 22, escaped from the stockade area where prisoners work.
Hall was booked into the jail on June 2 on a violation of probation charge. He was charged with driving while license suspended or revoked, fleeing or attempting to elude police officer, improperly transferred license plate and reckless driving.
Sheriff's Office Sgt. Kasey Trombley said Hall was awaiting a court date when he escaped. No hearing date had been set for him before he left the jail.
The Columbus Police Department and the Sheriff's Department are searching for Hall. Robertson said he may face additional charges when he is apprehended.
Officials are investigating the escape. As of Monday afternoon, authorities are not releasing additional information about how Hall escaped.
Anyone with information on Hall is asked to call the Muscogee County Jail at 706-653-4258.
