Fourteen catalytic converters were reported stolen from a U-Haul store on the 1700 block of Box Road Monday, according to a Columbus Police report.
Police arrived at the store at about 7:10 a.m. Monday after receiving reports of a theft. An employee told police that when he was warming up one of the trucks at about 6:30 a.m., he discovered that the catalytic converter had been removed. It had also been removed from thirteen other trucks. The part had been intact when workers left the business the previous day.
Catalytic converters transform toxic exhaust from the internal combustion engine into less harmful fumes by way of catalyzed chemical reactions.
No suspects were named in the report. No further information was available.
