A man was arrested Thursday at Victory Trailer Park after an officer stopped two people to investigate suspected prostitution, according to a Columbus Police report.
An officer was patrolling Victory Trailer Park on the 2600 block of Dawson Street at about 3:25 a.m. when he noticed a man and a woman standing on the curb. The area is known for prostitution, so he attempted to stop the two. However, after they saw the patrol car they continued to walk away from the officer despite repeated requests to stop.
When the officer finally came into contact with them, 44-year-old Harold West became belligerent. The officer informed him he was charging him with loitering and searched his person. He found a small container with 0.1 grams of cocaine inside.
During the incident, West's mother came out of her home and told police that West does walk down the street outside Victory Trailer Park to pick up prostitutes.
Erica Elias, 30, was charged with loitering and was given a summons to appear in court on June 28. She denied she was a prostitute.
West was charged with possession of a Schedule II drug and loitering. He was transported to the Muscogee County Jail.
