A man was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine after he was stopped for driving with a suspended license, according to a Columbus Police report.
An officer was called to back up a traffic stop at the intersection of Weems Road and Moon Road Sunday at about 7:30 p.m. Police told the officer that Ted Joseph Massey, 29, had been driving with a suspended license and needed to be transported to Muscogee County Jail.
When the officer asked Massey to step out of his vehicle, he smelled the odor of marijuana. The officer asked Massey if there was anything illegal in the car, to which he replied, "Not that I know of."
Massey gave consent for officers to search his car. He was again asked if there were any illegal substances in the car, to which he replied, "No, there is not."
