A former player for the Miami Dolphins was arrested Thursday and charged with drug related objects after he was stopped near 25th Avenue, according to a Columbus Police report.
An officer was patrolling in the area of 25th Avenue and Garden Drive when he saw a 2012 Kia Soul with an expired registration. When he stopped the vehicle, 57-year-old Donald Bessillieu, got out and began approaching the patrol car.
A search revealed Bessillieu's driver's license had been suspended. The officer then asked to search Bessillieu's vehicle. The search yielded a small pipe with an unknown residue inside.
Bessillieu was charged with possession of drug related objects, expired registration, driving without a license and no proof of insurance. He was arrested and taken to Muscogee County Jail.

In early February, Bessillieu was arrested near 25th Avenue and Cusseta Road after an officer saw him flagging down a known prostitute. During a search of Bessillieu's belongings, police found a small amount of marijuana. He was charged with possession of Schedule II drugs.
Bessilieu played safety for the Miami Dolphins between 1979 and 1981 after playing during college for Georgia Tech. He went on to play for the St. Louis Cardinals in 1982, and later played for the Los Angeles Raiders in 1983 and 1985.
