A man was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine Tuesday after he was detained for giving false information to a police officer, according to a Columbus Police report.
An officer arrived at the 3500 block of Meadow Drive Tuesday at about 2:45 a.m. after receiving a request for assistance from another officer. The officer who requested back up reported that Gregory Davis, 35, made false statements to him and obstructed his investigation.
Davis was placed in custody and searched. When police searched him, they found a crack pipe in a cigarette pack in his pocket. The pipe contained residue and was taken into evidence.
Davis told police the pipe was his and that he was "hoping to buy some crack cocaine."
