More Georgia Republicans view embattled TV cook Paula Deen favorably than Martin Luther King, Jr., recent poll results from Public Policy Polling suggest.
That’s among the interesting tidbits the North Carolina-based organization posted Thursday on its website. Despite her recent controversy, Deen "remains quite popular in her home state," it notes.
In contrast, just 8 percent of Georgians have a favorable view of reality TV star Honey Boo Boo, compared to 63 percent with a negative one, the poll results indicate.
The poll did not directly compare Paula Deen and Martin Luther King, Jr. Rather, it asked respondents if they have a “favorable or unfavorable opinion” of each individual name. Seventy-three percent of Georgia Republicans said they viewed Paula Deen favorably, whereas 59 percent of Georgia Republicans said they viewed Martin Luther King, Jr. favorably.
Never miss a local story.
Forty percent of Georgia Democrats polled viewed Paula Deen favorably. Eighty-three percent of Georgia Democrats polled viewed Martin Luther King, Jr. favorably.
The roundup of Georgia poll results includes a reference to Columbus -- but not in conjunction with Paula Deen, Honey Boo Boo or Martin Luther King, Jr.
The poll asked opinions of five Georgia cities. When it comes to positively viewed cities, we didn’t take the No. 1 spot. That went to Savannah. The other results: Athens ranked No. 2, Atlanta ranked No. 3, Augusta ranked No. 4 and Columbus ranked No. 5.
