Eddie T. Lindsey Jr., the first African American assistant superintendent in the Muscogee County School District, died Monday morning at age 81.
A former principal at Spencer High School, Lindsey developed the school district policy manual and student behavior code booklet still in use today.
Constance Lindsey, his wife of 57 years, said, "Eddie loved to watch children grow and learn."
"He was education crazy," she said.

His son Chris Lindsey is the principal of Carver High School and another son Eddie Lindsey III is principal of Edgewood Student Services Center.
No funeral arrangements have been made. Progressive Funeral Home will be handling the funeral.
