UPDATE: I didn't expect breaking news related to pirate-speak, but I found some. Participating Krispy Kreme stores will give a free Original Glazed doughnut to anyone who shows up and talks like a pirate. The fun doesn't stop there. Wear full pirate attire and you'll get one free dozen Original Glazed doughnuts. Learn more here.

Today (Sept. 19) is International Talk Like a Pirate Day. Flaunt your best "pirattitude."
Why should you talk like a pirate? The holiday's official website notes, "Talking like a pirate is fun. It’s really that simple. It adds a zest, a swagger, to your every day conversation. Do you need another reason?"
Pirate-speak can be a little intimidating. Fortunately, the aforementioned website offers some starting points.
I recommend experimenting with the tried-and-true "arrr!" -- which is apparently a term of endearment, rather than an expression of displeasure. Holiday organizers say it can translate into everything from "I agree" to "I'm happy."
Another good pirate term is "avast!" -- which means "stop and give attention," according to holiday organizers.
One more easy option: Simply greet your co-workers with an enthusiastic "ahoy!" It's apparently the same as saying "hello."
Or, if you're really lazy, simply use an English-to-Pirate translator.
